In the late 1960s, filming large-scale war scenes required "German tanks," but the Soviet military districts had long run out of stock of German made tanks. At that time, the Kiev Military Region was able to produce some seized supplies, like a prop supply station, but there were no genuine tanks. So in 1967, the Carpathian Military Region entrusted the renovation task to the 17th Tank Repair Plant in Lviv - time was tight, the task was urgent, and it was done just for filming, not to actually go to the battlefield.

Someone replicated the appearance of the S-mine launcher on the vehicle body, and the paint also referred to the real-life state of the 502 Heavy Armored Battalion between 1942 and 1943. The stills show the feeling of weathering and dirtiness.

He may not be high-profile, but his experience is tough enough: he worked as an artillery observer during World War II and went to the front line in 1942, witnessing a real Tiger tank with his own eyes. He provided many practical reference suggestions during the modification process, such as how to make the sloping surface of the vehicle body, and how to make the relative positions of certain components more like real tanks. These details make the props look less like "fake" in front of the camera. But don't misunderstand, the modified car doesn't have the same armor and performance as the original Tiger, it looks more like it.

The track model of the prop car is difficult to verify now, and sometimes the appearance can be seen clearly in the stills but the specific model cannot be recognized. The "German markings" and mottled paint on the car body are not completely copied from historical materials, but are more for the sake of camera effect, giving the audience a visual feeling of just encountering enemy forces on the battlefield. Overall, the workers worked hard and crudely to make the car into a "photographable" appearance within limited time and materials.
